3D Printer on Steroids

Welcome to the Collaborative Revolution!

Pretty sure I linked to an article on 3D printers a year or two ago, but the demonstration below is particularly cool.  I would love to see this system adapted to make copies of key components on site in the construction industry.  The cost is probably too high now, but the technology is there and economies of scale would bring the costs down in a hurry.  I don't know enough about the chemistry of the resins used in the printer to intelligently comment on the durability / quality / functionality of the printed products, but for things like clips, spacers, etc. I see no reason a system like this wouldn't work like a charm.  The potential for this type of technology is mind bogglingly cool!
