Global-E-Training Help Desk Contact Info

Greetings,

As regular readers know I am writing a book that details the need for a smart built culture in construction. In furtherance of that endeavor I've joined forces with Global E Training out of Canada to create a series of online training courses related to the book. This blog post serves as the initial "Help Desk" link associated with those courses.

If you sign up for a Global E Training Course produced by yours truly you will, for now, be transported to through the interwebs to THIS blog post should you click the help button in one of those courses.

If you arrived that way, welcome and feel free to contact me directly via the phone numbers / email linked below. Please note you need to add a DOT, aka as a PERIOD between the gmail and the com in the email for the email address to work.

A more formal FAQ page will be developed as we move forward and eventually, I may provide a formal chat page but for now questioners will just have to suffer me!

Special Advisor to Group Delivering Collaboration to Feds

James L. Salmon joined the buildingSMART alliance Thought Leadership Team as a Special Advisor this month. The Thought Leadership Committee is a buildingSMART alliance Subcommittee Chaired by Kimon Onuma, of Onuma, Inc. that provides visionary leadership for the Alliance.

My first act as a Special Advisor is to announce and promote a luncheon hosted by the The Federal Real Property Association  and the Asset Leadership Network at which Kimon Onuma will present on the FED iFM and SEPS/BIM initiatives in Washington, D.C.

To learn more about the SEPS Program watch the video below.

The luncheon is scheduled for March 22, 2016 from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. and you can learn more and register to attend by following the link below.

Henry Green, head of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) plans to attend and speak briefly to the NIBS contracts with the DoD and VA that make these projects happen.

At the luncheon Kimon Onuma will explore the FED iFM and SEPS2BIM initiatives that bring advanced planning and asset management improvements to Federal real property assets AND personal property assets.

This is the first of many events driven by the new buildingSMART alliance Thought Leadership Team that will introduce built industry stakeholders to new generation tools and processes that link people to the built environment in real-time via the cloud.

As a long term advocate of virtual planning, design and construction, and as counsel to integrated teams and owners seeking to procure services from integrated teams, I am proud to serve as a Special Advisor to this elite, visionary committee. Readers in the Washington D.C. region are encouraged to attend this highly informative low cost event.

An Introduction to the Backwards Bike Theory

Regular readers may recall prior posts that referenced the backwards bike video from the Smarter Every Day blog. While very interesting, the video is a bit long. Further, standing alone, the backwards bike video fails tie back into the construction industry. The video below begins with a short introduction and is followed by a shortened version of the video. The intro PLUS the backwards bike video is now less than 6 minutes long and should lend itself to sharing with others interested in learning more about the concept. So feel free to link colleagues with questions to this blog post.

James L. Salmon will present a modified Backwards Bike lecture to attendees at the Katy's Castle Workshop in Columbus on March 18, 2016.

Seating for the Workshop is limited to 50 people so register today.
Lunch is included and the workshop is an incredible value.
