ASA Event in Naples

During the first week of April I presented in Naples, Florida to Southwest Chapter of the American Subcontractor's Association. The main thrust of the presentation was to encourage subcontractors and suppliers to form integrated teams capable of utilizing virtual planning and design tools and processes - think BIM - alongside integrated project delivery (IPD) tools and processes as collaborative partners. More and more owners are demanding solutions to long standing problems in the built industry and BIM and IPD provide two excellent mechanisms for addressing those issues. Accordingly, more and more owners are demanding BIM and insisting that entities involved in planning, designing, constructing and operating their built assets work more collaboratively together.

Leveraging BIM and IPD on regular projects, back behind the curtain, provides subcontractors, designers and others the opportunity to play in the collaborative sandbox BEFORE they are asked to do so on a major BIM and IPD oriented project. If readers know anyone interested in learning more about utilizing BIM and IPD in small integrated team environments please feel share my contact information.
